Oakview Memorials Headstone Ordering Process
Memorializing our loved ones isn't a topic most families talk about and when the time comes to purchase a memorial not everyone knows what to expect or where to start. We here at Oakview Memorials pride ourselves on giving our families enough information to make an educated purchase. While most cemeteries have rules & regulations as to what type & color memorial can be placed in their cemetery, we help in informing our families all the options that are available in creating your loved ones memorial.
What you can expect.
We understand how overwhelming it can be choose a memorial that truely honors our loved ones. We have committed ourselves to patienly assist our families while they make these personal decisions. We are here to listen and help provide the message our families are trying to display. From start to finish, Oakview Memorials' goal is to provide our families the everlasting memorial they desire at quality prices.
This step tends to be the most difficult for families to make. We provide thousands of examples and ideas to help ease this part of the process.
Once all designs & Proofs have been agreeed upon, fabrication, sandblasting or laser etching, of the final proof onto the memorial begins.
Once the memorial has been completed, and pre-installation pictures have been sent, the memorial is place on our installation schedule.
Completion doesn't end with installation, we dress the memorial in a compost soil to help promote thick grass growth and clean the memorial.
Example of the Ordering Process
The first step in the process is to determine the rules and regulations for the cemetery. In this case, St. Paul's Cemetery on Piney Church Rd, allows all types of Cemetery Memorials with a max width of 36" for a single plot.
The Burroughs family wanted to incorporate a mountain scene into the design of the memorial. This is the first proof we attempted after discussing the layout of the memorial. We determined that the mountain scene didn't fit well with this panel and didn't reflect the Appalachian Mountains here in our region.
The Burroughs Family was very pleased with this layout, we all agreed the mountains reflected an accurate rendering of the Appalachian Mountain Range. We strategically placed the 4 trees on the memorial to symbolize "Family" on the memorial.
On the previous image you'll notice the "Burroughs" Family name at the top of the proof. This reflects what will be engraved on the back side of the memorial. As you walk from the cemetery parking lot, this simple engraving allows for easy recognization of where the memorial is located in the cemetery.

Even with the thousands of cemeteries in the Maryland, DC, Virginia area. Each have their own rules, regulations and requirements. Once that has been established the ordering process is the same for each memorial.
